Employee benefits and staff development

At Teddies, we value our staff and are keen to ensure job satisfaction, while supporting personal development. Teddies staff also have access to a generous range of benefits, which their families can often benefit from, too.

Benefits

Holidays
All full-time nursery staff are entitled to 23 days annual leave per annum, excluding public and bank holidays. This increases with length of service, up to a maximum of 27 days per annum. Annual leave is pro rata for part-time staff.

Stakeholder pension scheme
All members of staff are entitled to join a stakeholder pension scheme.

Staff discounts
As part of the Teddies Group, all Teddies staff have access to over 100 staff discounts including savings on retail stores, gym memberships, travel and car rental.

Teddies childcare discount scheme
Subject to availability, staff are entitled to a discounted childcare place for their children at one of our nurseries (subject to availability).

Childcare Voucher Scheme
In addition to the Teddies childcare discount scheme you have access to a childcare voucher scheme that allows staff to save up to £2,300 a year towards the cost of registered childcare.

Employee Assistance Programme
EAP is available to all Teddies staff and their immediate family. It provides free and confidential access to independent, trained counsellors and specialist advisors, 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Recruitment bonus of up to £600
We're always looking for new staff members. If you have a friend or family member who is looking for a career in childcare, introduce them to Teddies and we'll pay you up to £600 if we employ them.

Uniform
All members of staff are provided with a free Teddies uniform.

Training and development

Teddies is able to deliver exceptional childcare because of the efforts and skills of its staff - which is why developing your skills and experience is so important.

From day one...
Starting a new job can be daunting, so we try to make the transition as smooth as possible. All new staff take part in a three-month induction programme so that they can learn about the organisation and find their feet. Plus, new employees meet regularly with their managers to discuss their progress.

Training courses
The learning and development strategy at Teddies provides a support network for employees at all levels to assist them in achieving their goals, whether it be helping to implement the Early Years Foundation Stage or managing relationships with colleagues and customers.

There are a range of plans and programmes designed to provide the direction and tools needed by leaders to deliver staff communications, motivation, recognition, learning, direction and feedback.

Staff who join as while unqualified will be supported to help gain professional qualifications.

Gaining further qualifications
Teddies will endeavour to support any further education you might require to progress your career. We have a further education policy in place and you can discuss and agree (with your manager), which qualifications will be supported by Teddies.

Career opportunities
Giving all staff the opportunity to realise their personal aspirations is very important to us. All our vacancies are advertised internally and, where possible, we promote from within Teddies - in fact, most management vacancies are filled internally.

Investors in People
Teddies is firmly committed to recruiting, training, recognising and developing the best people, and was reaccredited as an Investor in People in January 2007.
